If you are struggling and cannot afford to buy food, or you know a family without enough to eat then we are here to help.
Wansbeck Valley Food Bank will provide emergency food for a minimum of three days.

To get help, you need a Referral from a support worker or one of our associated local Partner Agencies – for example:
- Citizens Advice Bureau – Tel 0808 2787944
- Northumberland Communities Together – Tel 01670 620015
- Health Visitors
- Children Services – Tel 01670 819988
- Other health professionals
- Carers
- Your GP Surgery
- Probation Officer
Your food parcel in three simple steps:-
Step 1 – You need a Referral ….
If you already receive support from a service or professional, you can explain your circumstances and ask them to make you a referral.
Alternatively you can contact any of our partner agencies mentioned above.
Later referrals cannot be guaranteed delivery same day.

Please Note; Food parcels will only be issued to those who have been referred to us by one of our Partner Agencies.
Step 2 – We require some information from you ….
To make sure you qualify for a parcel your referrer will need to understand why you need our support.
To recieve a food parcel that’s right for you, you will be asked about any dietary needs, how many people are in your family and what cooking facilities you have. We also require your contact details.

Please Note; You must let us know if you or your family have any allergies.
Step 3 – About your Parcel ….
Your referrer will forward your request to the Food Bank for consideration.
We will contact you about the parcel collection / delivery arrangements.
Food Parcels may be collected by arrangement from our main office and warehouse at Northgate Park or from one of two collection centres in Ashington, these being the YMCA and Hirst Welfare.
If you live in Ashington you will be expected to collect from one of these centres and your referrer will note your preference.
Please note the opening times and to bring along some form of ID.
We will accept any of the following:
- your driving license
- tenancy agreement
- benefits entitlement letter
- council tax bill
- utility bill
- recent bank/credit card statement [provided it includes your name and address.]
- We DO NOT accept bank cards.
Please bring your own carrier bags.
Your parcel will not be given to anyone else unless you tell us.
We ask you to collect your parcel on the day specified or remain at home to receive your parcel at the time agreed.
Unless there is good reason, your parcel will NOT necessarily be available on the next working day.
